DR-WALTER will receive the award for its contribution to climate and environmental protection.
DR-WALTER attaches with its new building in 2017 great importance to the use of high quality, sustainable building materials. The building’s envelope is insulated by lining the walls with sand-lime brick as part of a highly insulating and ecological Multipor thermal insulation composite system. A solar plant (with an output of 15 kW) and an air-to-air heat pump provide a pleasant climate. This way, we are able to achieve a KfW 70 energy efficiency standard. By planting a number of fruit trees on its premises, the company made an additional contribution to CO2 reduction.
One of the priorities of DR-WALTER’s staff is saving resources such as water, electricity and paper and making a conscious day to day effort through recycling and waste separation. The company uses green electricity and produces the rest of its power with a PV system on the roof of its office building.
The innogy Climate Protection Award is presented in collaboration with the city of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid. DR-WALTER donates the prize money to Germany’s largest child protection agency (Kinderschutzbund) for the support of refugee children.
