Many German participants at the 63rd NAFSA Conference in Vancouver

09.06.2011

This year’s conference of NAFSA (Association of International Educators) took place in the Canadian city of Vancouver from 29 May to 3 June 2011 and featured almost 9,000 representatives of universities and exchange organizations from more than 100 countries. With nearly 10,000 members, NAFSA is the world’s largest nonprofit professional association dedicated to international education. The NAFSA 2011 conference featured hundreds of presentations, meetings, workshops and special events from a wide variety of international education topics presented in huge halls by exhibitors from all over the world. Among them were 150 universities and organizations from Germany, including – for the first time – Dr. Walter GmbH presenting its insurance solutions for studies and research abroad.

One of the organizations in the German Pavilion was the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the world’s largest funding organization supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Together with German universities and research facilities it promoted study and research stays in Germany as well as scholarships for German graduates abroad. With its more than 200 programs, the DAAD supports both Germans and foreigners worldwide. The organization’s portfolio includes offers such as semesters abroad for young students, doctoral programs, internships, visiting lectureships, informational visits as well as building universities abroad.

For several years now, Dr. Walter GmbH has increased its commitment in the area of international educational exchange, thereby focusing more and more on the global level. "Being a member of NAFSA and taking part in its annual conference is something we are required to do as a global player in the insurance sector" said Dr. Walter GmbH’s Managing Director, Reinhard Bellinghausen. "At the NAFSA Annual Conference we meet with our American, European and German partners and establish business relationships with universities and educational organizations from all over the world."
